October 10, 2008 – New Award
Dick received a Certificate of Merit in the Commercial Illustration category in the national - international competition of the 2008 Creativity Annual Awards. His entry was entitled, “American Courage.”
September 10, 2007 – 2008 Create Awards Gold Award Double Winner!
Dick won not one – but two – Gold Awards in the 2008 Create Awards national competition for creative professionals. The first gold award was presented for Dick’s Camel Cigarettes “Orange Twist” advertisement illustration in the Advertising Poster category. The second gold award was presented for his Camel Cigarettes “Turkish Blends” advertisement illustration in the Advertising Other category.
July 10, 2006 – More Awards
Dick was a triple award winner in the 2006 Portfolios.com International Art Competition. This juried show draws entries from all over the world and features categories in Illustration, Design and Photography For Advertising, Institutional, and Self Promotion. October 25, 2006 – Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles (SILA) Award
Dick’s glamour painting of a beautiful girl reclining on a cigarette case of Camel Exotic Blends Cigarettes was selected for the 2006-2007 SILA Exhibition and for inclusion in SILA’s 2007 printed annual. His was one of 120 entries selected out of 1200 submitted. The show is juried by top Los Angeles art directors and illustrators.
June 30, 2006 – Aphrodesia II Silver Award Winner!
Dick was named the Silver Award winner in the juried Aphrodesia II 2006 Artists’ Competition – Pin-Up category. Aphrodesia is a Los Angeles-based society of artists comprised of some of the world’s most famous illustrators and photographers. This society is dedicated to the very best artistic representations of the female form in painting, photography, and sculpture. His glamour illustration of a beautiful girl adorning the new Camel Exotic Blends Cigarette package was created for varied national media ads for the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Dick’s painting was one of 220 selected from over 1200 entries worldwide. All winners and other accepted works will be featured in the Aphrodesia II volume to be published in October, 2006.
December 23, 2005 – International Illustration Competition Win!
Dick has won a third-place honor in the prestigious Artrom Gallery Illustration 2005 International Art Competition. Artrom is headquartered in Rome, Italy, and its juried competitions receive illustration entries from nations all over the world. Dick’s entry was a beautiful illustration for R.J. October 14, 2005 – Aphrodesia Winner!
Dick has won inclusion in the upcoming book, Aphrodesia, a new art book devoted to the very best artistic representations of the female form in painting and sculpture. His stunning portrait of Marilyn Monroe was selected from over 1200 submitted entries by a distinguished panel of Los Angeles artists/judges, including Greg Hidebrand, Frank Frazetta, Jr., Craig Elliott, Spencer Davis, Joe Chiodo, and Bud Plant. The prestigious volume will be published in October, 2005.

June 2, 2009 – Famous Alumni Award
Dick was honored to be the recipient of the 2009 Famous Alumni Award presented by the world-famous Art Instruction Schools, Inc., the foremost commercial art correspondence school, headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Art Instruction Schools are an accredited member of the Distance Education and Training Council. Dick had taken and completed the AI course at the age of 15.
